Welcome to BS4 Good Gardens, an award scheme dedicated to celebrating beautiful front gardens within the Bristol postcode BS4. Every year, residents nominate their roads, and a fantastic team of volunteer judges canvas the neighbourhood, awarding stickers to those who enhance the visual appeal of their streets. Whether it’s a meticulously tended mature garden or simply a seasonal planter, we applaud and recognise the efforts of those contributing to the visual charm of our streets and local biodiversity. This is one of the best things about living in BS4. This year I missed the notice about the competition, so missed out on nominating my road. Mostly though, I missed judging. The opportunity of looking at other people’s gardens and meeting gardeners is quite a privilege.

My daughter and I really enjoyed judging Langton Road yesterday. We awarded gardens for reasons including imagination, skill and individuality but also for just making an obvious effort!

Just back from judging this lovely road with an eclectic mix of gardens. My 7 mo co-judge and I had a lot of fun! Overall winner was the very whimsical 168.

We had a great morning judging Allison Road. The gardens where people have planted and cared for their outside space give so much pleasure to human passers-by aswell as the birds an insects. We met some lovely gardeners who were very modest about their efforts, but loved hearing that their gardens were appreciated.
